About CSWIM 2022

The 15th China Summer Workshop on Information Management (CSWIM 2022) will be held in Ningbo, China on August 20-21, 2022. The purpose of the workshop is to create a bridge to promote lively exchange and collaborations between IS scholars in China and other countries, and to advance our understandings of how information systems and technologies affect individuals, businesses, organizations, and societies.

The theme of CSWIM 2022 is “Bringing Big Data Analytics, AI, and Human Behavioral Research Together: A New Frontier of IS Research”. Adding to the mature behavioral research on IS use, we have witnessed good progresses made in research leveraging big data analytics and more recently, AI-related technologies and methods. There is an opportunity to bring the different approaches of research together to gain deeper and richer insights into IS use, design and implications. On the one hand, big data analytics allow us to gain an objective and comprehensive understanding about relationships that exist between variables of interest, while AI-related methods such as machine learning can enable reliable and scalable discovery of nuanced patterns and regularities through intelligent and adaptive learning. On the other hand, behavioral research methods, such as survey and experiment, afford the investigation and identification of the psychological mechanisms that underlie the relationships or patterns found. Thus, by bringing the different approaches together, the development and formulation of novel IS theories may become more viable than before, The objective of this conference is to thus provide a venue that facilitates the exchanges and collaborations among IS scholars from diverse areas of research interests and employing different research approaches to push forward this frontier of IS research.
